In the beginning of 1997, this domain was, primarily, created as a memorial to my cherished poodles, FancyBoy and JoJo, and a place to show off my house cats. My little poodles have long been at the Bridge, but their memory and spirit lives on within my heart and the lives of my cats.
Secondly, it's dedicated to all the lost, hungry, abused, and homeless little cats everywhere. A special dedication to Keiko of Singapore, the charming mascot of Cats Voice, his littermates and playmates who lived and died in such wretched conditions on the sparkling-clean streets of Singapore: Keiko, your memory and spirit lives on within all the unknown humans who have come to know of you. You're gone now - never to experience hunger, fear, pain, and lack of shelter. Know, Dear Heart, you'll never be forgotten.
Thirdly, with many, many thanks for the friendship, love, and compassion my former FF&F (Fabulous Felines and Friends) email members bestowed upon Craig (my husband) and me. Without their love and encouragement during the last two years of FF&F, this web site would not exist. Dear FF&Fers, we love you.
And lastly, but not least, this is a warm, heartfelt thanks to Jeannie Dailey of Petrescue.com who gently continued to push and give Craig and me the support and encouragement to go non-profit for four years, but Jeannie, look at us now - we finally made it!
The name of this domain and my email address is named after the term I call my pets' treats - first my little dogs, then my cats - "snick-snacks". When I first went online, I was with AOL. At the time, they only provided eight characters for a screen/user name. Because of the limited characters, I dropped the Cs in the term; hence, "sniksnak."
The name of the site and organization, Pawprints and Purrs, Inc., is actually twofold: Pawprints - deliberately misspelled - for the memory of FancyBoy and JoJo, and Purrs for the many cats who have graced our lives.
Craig and I have fifty-four rescued and/or former feral cats and seven rescued shelter dogs sharing our home. We have four semi-feral cats who live on our patio. They are all precious four-legged creatures from whom we're forever learning, laughing and loving. We share a mutual love for our cats and dogs, and they have wrapped themselves around our lives (or wrapped us around their paws). As we've come to learn from their love and camaraderie, our lives have been enriched tenfold as they've entwined their tiny selves around our hearts. Though only the four patio cats in our feral cat colony are friendly, our ferals are a joy to watch frolic on our property and grow into happy, healthy spayed and neutered cats, free from reproducing, disease, and hunger.
I want to share with other animal loving people our collection of animal stories, poems, quotes, cat lore, and humor. And of course, my primary goal is to continue the quest of promoting spaying/neutering, thoroughly explaining what entails the barbaric practice of declawing, preventing abuse and neglect, encouraging adoption from local shelter/rescue facilities, and assisting in the proper care and responsibility for guardian companions. During the years of being owned by cats and dogs, we've obtained through many educational sources valuable information about the health and welfare of our mischievous furfamily.
Always surrounded by mega headbonkers and purromatics, soulful eyes and tail-waggers,
